But, hey, like the meme says, sometimes you just have to. So I'm going to suck it up, put my big girl undies on, and rejoin the ranks of the working mums. I will figure out how many bottles Tully is going to need over the course of a day; I will decide what to pack in her lunch box seeing as she loves herself some 'solids '; I will remember to pack her a spare outfit (or two ) in case she vomits/ explosively poops/ just generally gets grubby; and will not cry when I drop her off for the first time.
Or when I can't fit into my pre-pregnancy work pants. But that, dear readers, is a whole OTHER kettle of fish!
Are you a working mum? Did you NOT looking forward to going back to work or am I just being a big sook?
Amy I totally felt like this too but now I'm really enjoying my two days. Wouldn't want to be doing any more but I actually think everyone is happier now!ReplyDelete
I'm sure once I get back into I'll like being back amongst my colleagues but for now I'm having a sook about it!Delete
I have been 'lucky' enough to work from home since I had my twins. I tell you, some days I'd love to put on some clean clothes and leave the house. But if it came to the crunch, I'd be heartbroken to have to "go back" to work. I think either way you look at it, it's hard. Having to work - hard! All day with screaming children - HARD! Good luck with the big return. It will be fine I'm sure xReplyDelete
You're right Greer - not matter which way you look at it, us mums have it tough!Delete
I hear ya Amy. I did not want to go back at all. Once I was there I must admit it was nice to have some adult conversations and go to the toilet by myself, but by the same token, if I had the choice of not working I wouldn't. I don't know what I am going to do once we've had this second baby. I don't actually know if it would be financially better for me to work and then have to pay two lots of childcare fees. It's something we'll have to work out when the time comes I guess, but I am hoping I can take a full year off this time, fingers crossed!ReplyDelete
Going to the toilet by myself will definitely be a high light :)Delete
I'm like Greer, always worked from home and missed being out and about and properly dressed. It's all swings and roundabouts isn't it. But two days a week is a really great ratio. Hope it all starts well.ReplyDelete
I'm glad that two days will cover my mortgage, and thats the only reason in was going back... To keep that particular bill in check. Some other mums aren't that lucky :(Delete
I'm due back towards the end of may. The thought makes me feel sick, I just want to be a mum at the moment. But it won't be for me either. Sadly we need the $$$ReplyDelete
That's exactly why I'm going back Polly - purely to keep the $$$ coming and the bills being paid...,Delete
I feel so lucky this time around, I was only able to take off 8 months with Lolly but have been able to afford to stay off 18 months with Sebastian, so am enjoying Lollys toddlerhood too. I have to go back in Feb 2014, but I'll go back full time. I'm half dreading it, and half looking forward to it. I just wish I had a job that I could negotiate down to part timeReplyDelete
I'm actually going back sooner this time around, when I was hoping to have MORE time. Circumstances changed tho :/Delete
All the best, I luckily was able to keeping working from home, hang in there. Enjoy the peace that comes with it though and don't feel guilty xxReplyDelete
